"... and a brand new SCV"

Hoje um de meus colegas de trabalho estava assobiando a clássica canção "The Twelve Days of Christmas". É bem provável que você a conheça, afinal ela foi publicada pela primeira vez no ano de 1780! Também é provável que você seja um jogador obsessivo-compulsivo como eu e tenha esta canção destruída permanentemente em sua memória graças à Blizzard...

"and a brand new SCV".

Em dezembro de 1999, Starcraft era mais um jogo de estratégia lutando pela sobrevivência na dura selva dos jogos de estratégia. Quem poderia imaginar que dez anos depois os coreanos e boa parte do mundo ainda estariam jogando o título e que seu sucessor seria recebido com intenso hype e esperança? Enfim, era o primeiro Natal do jogo e a Blizzard acreditava que precisava de alguma coisa capaz de manter a chama do interesse acessa. No dia 23 daquele ano, entrando no espírito natalino e com muito bom humor eles disponibilizaram para download um mapa extra chamado "Twelve Days of Starcraft" como parte de sua estratégia de lançamento de mapas semanais. Era um simples mapa de Capture a Bandeira para quatro jogadores. Mas vinha acompanhado da famigerada canção homônima.

"and a brand new SCV".

A canção original fala de um amor verdadeiro que traria para o amado diversos presentes, ao longo de doze dias de celebração natalina, com os presentes se acumulando a cada dia. Na versão da Blizzard, cada dia traria uma nova e poderosa unidade e cada parte da música seria cantada por um personagem do universo Starcraft. O resultado final, além de hilário, gruda na cabeça para nunca mais sair:
